2 episodes in one week? It’s almost like February is a short month and traveling and technical difficulties compacted that issue! Anyways, on this episode I’m joined by my good friend Abby. She and her husband Ben, are to blame for Katie and my cocktail obsession. I’ve been wanting to talk to Abby about one of her all time favorite drinks, the Bananarac. It’s a riff on the Sazerac that employs a banana liqueur and it’s delicious.
The Bananarac
Cocktail Codex; Natasha David
1oz Pierre Ferrand 1840
1 oz Overholt Rye (or Rittenhouse)
1/2 oz Giffard Banane du Brésil
1/2 tsp Demarara Gum Syrup
Garnish: 1 lemon twist (for spritz)
Rinse a chilled double rocks glass with absinthe. Stir all ingredients (except the lemon) over ice, strain into the absinthe-rinsed glass. Spritz lemon peel over the liquid in the glass and discard.
